About installation

Follow the instruction and note below to accurate installation of Mecha-lock.

Use the torque wrench for tightening screws.

Cleaning of Mecha-lock installation surface.

Wipe and clean the dust, rust and oil on shaft surface.
Spread the oil (operation oil 68) to shaft surface and bore of hub.

Do not use the oil which includes molybdenum and silicon due to reduce the grip of friction.


For normal application

Wipe the rust protection oil, which used at packaging before assembly.(MR)


How to increase the torque capacity.

Transmission torque can be stable by using recommended oil.
Spread the oil at the location below.

Recommended oil spreading location by ISEL.
·Out side of outer diameter.
·Taper part of inner ring, and outer ring.
·Screw head and screw of locking screw.


Note for clean circumstance application

·Circumstances is vacuumed.

  1. Application of dry condition without oil.
    Torque capacity will not be the same with catalogue without oil. Especially for the stainless type, use the low dust grease for clean room to avoid sand burning.
  2. Application of using vacuum grease.
    This grease may cause of shaft slipping or increasing the tightening toque, which over the yield point. Therefore we recommend of evaluation test.
Special screw (plating type) is required for vacuum or clean room circumstances. Ask us for the application.
For the application of food industry machines, cleaning the oil may cause of the decreasing the transmission torque with stainless type.


Note for the hub installation.

After the installation of Mecha-lock to shaft, and insert to the hub, which processed in selected dimension. Confirm the hub edge perfectly attached to flange (Fig.1). Confirm the depth by depth gage or caliper if it is difficult to judge by sight.
Use plastic hammer to hit lightly if installation is hard.

The inner ring taper and outer ring taper are stacking together by transportation and hard to insert the shaft and hub, loose the locking screws and disassemble the taper pats of Mecha-lock by using uninstallation screw.


Assembling with small off centering.

Mecha-lock must be tightened until there are no tolerance (clearance) between shaft and hub. First tightening screw is the most important for high accuracy connection.

Tighten slowly and evenly in diagonal direction after checking there are no gap between flange edge and hub. No need to use all screws but 3 or 4 screws to tighten evenly until fix the mecha-lock gently by hexagonal wrench. Next increase to half torque of tightening torque, and finally tightening all screws in circle direction. Confirm that all screws does not rotate after tightening in. Also confirm the tightening torque is right for all screws.

Uninstallation

Check your safety first before starting an uninstall operation.
Turn off the power and check thrust load or torque are not on Mecha-lock or check the drops.


Loosen the screws in order gently.

Install those loosen screws in to uninstallation hole and tightening evenly for taking parts.(Fig.3)
